Privacy Policy
This policy explains what ePustika — a product of udgamai, operated byNov8iv Solutions LLP (the data fiduciary) — collects, why, and the choices you have. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. What we collect
- Account data: email address, name, optional phone number (for verification), Google profile basics if you sign in with Google.
- Content: topics you enter, generated books, edits, optional writing samples, reader highlights and notes.
- Transactions: order and payment identifiers from Razorpay. We never see or store your card number.
- Usage & device data: pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location from IP, browser type, and a device identifier used to prevent abuse of free credits.
- Referrals: which account referred you, if you signed up through a referral link.
2. Why we use it
- To provide the service: generate, store, render and deliver your books.
- To process payments, unlocks, purchases and creator payouts.
- To prevent fraud and abuse (duplicate free accounts, referral rings, piracy).
- To send transactional email: sign-in links, receipts, unlock and sale notifications.
- To improve the product through aggregated analytics.
3. AI processing
Your topics, outlines, chapters and writing samples are sent to third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic for text and fal.ai for images) to generate content. These providers process the data to fulfil the request and, under their API terms, do not train models on it. Your writing sample is used only to derive a voice profile for your own books.
4. Who we share data with
- Infrastructure: Supabase (database, authentication), Google Cloud (hosting), Cloudflare (file storage), Inngest (background jobs), Upstash (rate limiting).
- Payments: Razorpay. Email: Resend. Analytics and error monitoring: PostHog and Sentry.
- Other users: your author name and published books are public. Buyers of your books see your author name; you see highlights that readers choose to save on your book, with their note but not their identity.
- Law enforcement, when legally required.
We do not sell personal data.
5. Watermarking
Every downloaded book is marked, visibly and invisibly, with the downloading account's identifier and order number so that leaked copies can be traced. This is a security measure disclosed here and in the Terms.
6. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in sessions, language preference and referral attribution, and analytics cookies (PostHog) to understand product usage. We honour the browser “Do Not Track” signal for analytics.
7. Retention
Account and content data are kept while your account exists. Generation logs are pruned after 90 days. Transaction records are kept for the period required by Indian tax law. Deleted accounts are removed within 30 days, except records we must retain by law.
8. Your rights
You can access, correct or export your data, withdraw consent, or delete your account by emailing contact@udgamai.com. We respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 18 without parental supervision; we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted by row-level security, and files are served only through short-lived signed links. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you of any breach that affects you as required by law.
